Random or Mad

October 12, 2023 1 Comment

No longer young, debatably more mature, but definitely older looking than the photograph below, David Healy figures he might now be able to deliver a decent lecture.  He’s been invited to speak at an International Society for Ethical Psychology and Psychiatry in 2 weeks time – on October 28.

The talk will cover some of the points mentioned in the last post – Psychotropic Drug Follies – the points about how even the most right-on academic journals have a failure of nerve when it comes to company trials and drug induced harms – hence the title of this post Random or Mad.

But its going to be much more exciting than that.  Its going to tell you about a bunch of inspirational people and why the most important thing if we want health care rather than health services is listening to those who have been injured by prescription medicines. .

The original event was scheduled to be both live and virutal but growing concerns about burning jet-fuel unnecessarily mean the meeting will now be virtual only.

I’m due to be the first talk on Saturday morning – at 8 AM Pacific time – so perhaps no-one from the West Coast will be up but it becomes a very reasonable time for anyone else from the MidWest to Europe.

Part of the fun in the talk is it will feature a series of illusions.  Nine at the last count.  What is really exciting though is the talk comes with a 30 minute Question and Answer session at the end. There are bound to be some fascinating questions – given that the material covered will give both Biden and Trump camps a lot to chew over.

The registration link in the Photograph won’t work – so its reproduced here.

It’s also heading into Halloween weekend. A good weekend to tackle the spirit world
